SSL Lake Grand Slam / Star Swiss Open Championship

1 Rules
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing ISAF (RRS) and the rules of the International Star Class Yacht Racing Association (STCR).
1.2 The SWISS SAILING Prescriptions to the RRS that will apply can be downloaded here.
1.3 The SWISS SAILING Regulations for Swiss Championships in fleet racing including its guidelines will apply.
1.4 The SWISS SAILING guidelines to ISAF Regulation 19 (Eligibility Code) and 20 (Advertising) will apply.
1.5 The SWISS SAILING guidelines to ISAF Regulation 21 (Anti Doping) will apply. Doping controls are possible at any time according to regulations of Antidoping Switzerland.
1.6 Appendix P, special procedures for Rule 42, will apply.
1.7 RRS Addendum Q, Umpired Fleet Racing will apply for the quarter-final, the semi-final and the final.
1.8 If there is a conflict between languages, the French text will take precedence. For the SWISS SAILING national prescriptions and regulations, the French text will take precedence.
2 Advertising
2.1 Competitor advertising is permitted.
2.2 Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority.
3 Eligibility
3.1 The regatta is open to all boats of the Star class.
3.2 All competitors (skipper and crew) must be member of a club affiliated to Swiss Sailing or of another club affiliated to a national authority of the ISAF.
3.3 The Skipper shall be member of the International Star Class Yacht Racing Association (ISCYRA).
3.4 Eligible boats may enter by completing the registration form and sending it, together with the required fee and required documents, to: Not later than August 22nd, 2015
3.5 The following documents shall be sent via E-Mail or postal mail:- Copy of Measurement Certificate- Copy of the third-party liability insurance.
3.6 Late entries will be accepted until September 7th 2015 with supplement of CHF 50.-
4 Classification
Not applicable
5 Fees
5.1 Required fees are as follows:
– CHF: 100.- per boat
– CHF: 50.- if the skipper is less than 25 years old.The entry fee shall be paid after entering, even if the entry is cancelled later on or the boat does not show up. Entry fees will only refunded if the entry is rejected. The fees shall be paid on the following bank account:

6 Qualifying Series and Final Series
6.1 The regatta will consist of a qualifying round and a final round.
6.2 Qualifying round : maximum nine (9) races ending on Friday September 11th if a minimum of four (4) races have been completed. The winner of the qualifying round qualifies directly for the semi-final. The crews finishing the qualifying round from 2nd to 11th place qualify for the quarter-final.
6.3 Quarter final : One (1) race . The crews ranked 2nd to 11th in the qualifying round compete in the quarter-final. The top six (6) crews qualify for the semi-final.
6.4 Semi-final : One (1) race. The winner of the qualifying round and the top six crews of the quarter-final compete in the semi-final. The top four (4) crews qualify for the final.
6.5 Final : One (1) race. First crew to finish will be the winner of the event and will receive the title of Swiss champion.
7 Schedule
7.1 Registration:
Monday September 7th, 2015 from 9 am to 7 pm
Tuesday September 8th , 2015 from 8 am to 5 pm
7.2 Measurement and inspection:
Monday September 7th, 2015 from 9 am to 7 pm Tuesday September 8th , 2015 from 8 am to 5 pm
7.3 Days of racing:
Wednesday September 9th to Saturday September 12th 2015Reserve day : Sunday September 13th 2015

7.5 The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race is: 9:30 am.
7.6 Last possible time for warning signal :
September 13th , 5 pm.
8 Measurement
8.1 Each boat shall produce a valid measurement certificate. In addition, measurement controls will be taken.
8.2 The check of the Measurement Certificates and the measurement controls will take place in “La salle des Quais” close to the Yacht Club.
8.3 No initial measurements will be taken.
8.4 Crews shall demonstrate compliance with crew weight limits in accordance with STRC 31.1.3 prior to Wednesday September 9th 2015, 8:30 am
9 Sailing Instructions
9.1 The sailing instructions will be available after 9 am on Monday 7th at “Cercle de la Voile de Grandson”
10 Venue
10.1 Addendum A shows the location of the regatta harbour.
10.2 Addendum A shows the location of the racing areas.
11 Courses
11.1 The courses will be sailed as follow: up-down, triangle.
The diagrams of the courses to be sailed will be described in the sailing instructions.
12 Penalty System
12.1 Decisions of the international jury will be final as provided in rule 70.5.
13 Scoring
13.1 4 races of the qualifying round are required to be completed to constitute a series for the Swiss championship.
13.2 For the qualifying round :
(a)  When fewer than 4 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.
(b)  When from 4 to 9 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.
13.3 A minimum of 3 races in the qualifying round are required to be completed before sailing the quarter final.
13.4 A minimum of 3 races in the qualifying round are required to be completed to constitue a series for the SSL Grand Slam
13.5 The regatta is considered for the SSL ranking. 3000 points will be awarded to the winner. In case the SSL Grand Slam is not valid, the scale of the “category 5 / continent” will be used for the allocation of SSL points (750 points to the winner).
14 Support and Coach Boats
14.1 Support and Coaches Boats shall be registered at the Race Office before the beginning of the event and comply with the Support Boat Regulation for the regatta. The organizing authority will obtain the concerned authorization for navigation on the lake.
14.2 Support and Coaches Boats will be part of the security arrangement for the event.
15 Berthing
Boats shall be kept in their assigned places in the boat park or harbour.
16 Haul-Out Restrictions
16.1 Keelboats shall not be hauled out during the regatta except in case of damages, with and according to the terms of prior written permission of the race committee.
16.2 Launching and hauling will be organized by the Club.
17 Diving Equipment and Plastic Pools
Underwater breathing apparatus and plastic pools or their equivalent shall not be used around keelboats between the preparatory signal of the first race and the end of the regatta.
18 Radio communication
Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.
19 Prizes
Prizes will be given as follows :- SWISS SAILING Championship Medals (first 3 boats)-Trophy- Souvenirs for each competitor- Prize money for the first 20 boats. (See Addendum B)

The entire prize money is awarded if at least one of the races of the final round is sailed. If the races of the final round would not take place, the prize money will be awarded as follows :

– one quarter of the prize money for one valid race

– one half of the prize money for two valid races

– three quarters of the prize money for three valid races

– the entire prize money for four valid races

20 Disclaimer of Liability
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
21 Insurance
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of CHF 2,000,000.- per incident or the equivalent
